The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is arguably Samsung’s best foldable smartphone yet. Even when the phone is closed, it is still a tall, narrow and thick device, because of which it may not fit in your pockets. The phone has a glass front when folded and a plastic front when unfolded, a glass back and an aluminum frame. Gorilla Glass Victus protects the back and front. The phone is also IPX8 certified and has a side fingerprint sensor. It weighs around 271 grams, which is quite heavy than a normal smartphone.

This device has a huge 7.9-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. The maximum screen resolution is 1768 * 2208 pixels. When folded, the cover screen features a 6.2 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 832 * 2268 pixels.

There is a 12MP triple camera setup on the back of this phone. The main one is a 12MP, f / 1.8 (with OIS) camera, a wide-angle camera accompanied by a 12MP telephoto lens (OIS) and another 12MP ultra-wide lens. The main camera can record 4K video up to 60 fps.

With the high price tag, the phone’s cameras should have been able to record 8K videos like its Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The front side is a 4MP sub-screen camera and a 10MP cover camera (gyro-EIS) which can also record videos in 4K but only up to 30 fps.

Performance and battery

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset instead of Samsung’s Exynos chipset and runs on Android 11 with One UI 3.1.1 on top. The graphics are managed by Adreno 660.

With the given specs, the device should have no problem running high-end apps and games smoothly. In addition, the big screen is expected to provide immense viewing and gaming experience for users.

The device is powered by a 4,400mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that can be charged via a 25W fast charger. Like its other flagship phones, it also supports 11W fast wireless charging and wireless charging. 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Since this is the ultimate flagship of Samsung’s foldable phone, it comes with 12GB of RAM on board while it is possible to choose 256GB or 512GB for internal memory. There is no dedicated card slot on the device to expand memory, but the internal memory offered by the company should be able to hold up for a long time before it is fully utilized.

In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 supports a nano sim and has 802.11 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE and apt-X HD. It also supports NFS and a USB Type-C 3.2.

Just like the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the official price for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has not been revealed in Nepal. The starting price of the phone is $ 1,799. It seems that people have to wait a few weeks or even a month to find out the official price of the phone in Nepal.
