HauteLeMode takes us window-shopping in New York
‘It is Luke Meagher, @HauteLeMode, here for Interview magazine I’m connecting to share my thoughts with you on all the holiday window displays happening in New York right now at your favorite stores, brands, et cetera et cetera. So we started in SoHo, which was a no, hoe. It was very disappointing, it was very upsetting. You didn’t have that romantic holiday comedy feeling you really deserve. The noOf course, we had to go into town to see the windows, although this year it wasn’t a ‘of course’ – if you have to, I guess you give it a try. Now be thankful because I went to watch them so you don’t have to.

PRADA
“Prada makes everything on the ice experience. They had a little slide in the window, so the men could feel inspired to sled together. Why men sled together, I don’t know. But it looks like all the Prada window accessories were actually real which is fun and genuine.

KATE SHOVEL
âNow listen, they gave it a try and I really enjoyed it. There was a digitized moment, like a houndstooth, which invaded the small pots. There were a lot of disco styles, and there was even a truck outside that handed out cookies and pizza. The thing was, it was like they were doing a little with a lot. It was just kind of a bleh. The point is, Kate Spade’s holiday windows could be cool and quirky, and cute, but instead, they just looked out to the department store, on the first level, near the fragrance counter.

Dolce & Gabbana
âWe must discuss. They had a little festive party. It sounded like something from Whoville, and I dream of eating the last can of who-hash, if you know what I mean.
âââ
ARMANI
âPretty little fur pillars here to support the Apres Ski collection. Most people walking down 5th Avenue probably don’t know what âaprès-skiâ means, but hey, that doesn’t matter. “
âââ
LOUIS VUITTON
âThe windows were okay. They did exist. The most exciting thing was the monogrammed Christmas tree that ran to the top of the building. I’ll take the Christmas tree. That’s enough vacation for me.
âââ
SAKS FIFTH AVENUE
âSaks is one of the most prominent window dressers, and we saw little carousel horses wearing Sergio Hudson dresses, but at the same time, not much was happening. All that glitters isn’t gold, girls.
âââ
FERRAGAMO
âIt was cute, there were a bunch of little papier-mâché cityscapes. The bags, the shoes, the clothes put among them, fabulous.
âââ
BERGDORF GOODMAN
âThese windows were amazing. My favorite. Lots of colors, a few birds of paradise and a poodle that had too many luxury handbags for my taste⦠because they were on the poodle, not me.
âââ
DAVID YURMAN
âDavid put all his jewels on these magnificent little ice pillars. It felt like a fun, sweet way to be creative about a vacation situation. On top of that, it was non-denominational – bonus points in my book. “
âââ
Tiffany and company.
âTiffany’s acting is subtle, although I would have liked to see a full-size poster of Beyoncé in the window. It is only me. Their little starry night and drums were cute, though.
