Chanel to unveil 8,000 square foot boutique today at CityCenterDC in Washington, DC

The boutique offers the entire Chanel universe: ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and costume jewelry. It is also home to a selection of fine watches and jewelry, as well as perfumes and beauty products.

Chanel previously had a boutique in Washington, DC from 1990 to 2004 at the Willard Hotel. The new store represents Chanel’s first new independent fashion boutique in the US network since opening its Robertston Blvd. held in Los Angeles in May 2008.

John Galantic, president and chief operating officer of Chanel, Inc., was not available to comment on the new store and sales expectations.

The new single storey boutique was designed by Peter Marino, a longtime Chanel collaborator. Graphic contrasts are evident throughout the store, starting with an elegant pleated front in glass and ceramic by Neopares, which evokes a sense of bold and inviting luxury. Inside, the space consists of a succession of rooms whose atmosphere is inspired by the mythical Parisian apartment of Mademoiselle Chanel, rue Cambon.

The boutique was designed in a luxurious residential spirit, showcasing a palette of white, beige and black accented with hand-applied finishes as well as a collection of contemporary art and antique furniture. Each work of art in the boutique has been chosen to reflect Mademoiselle Chanel’s legacy as a passionate patron, as well as Marino’s signature work for the House.

Upon entering the boutique, two spacious rooms with beige stone floors are located behind the vestibule and showcase handbags and accessories, including seasonal reinterpretations of the iconic 2.55 and 11.12 handbags. There are two additional rooms, one dedicated to perfumes, beauty and eyewear and the other a watchmaking and fine jewelry fair, showcasing a selection of fine jewelry from the Coco Crush, Camelia and Comete collections. , as well as the latest interpretations of the iconic J12 watch. .

The store offers the 2021/2022 Métiers d’Art Ready-to-Wear Collection designed by Viard. The collection, created each year to showcase the art and craftsmanship of the Métiers d’Art houses, is inspired by the Château de Chenonceau, “Le Château des Dames” and the legendary women who have resided in the Château de Catherine from Medici to Diane de Poitiers. The castle floor black and white check pattern appears on sequined mini skirts, as well as a fringed geometric tweed patchwork maxi skirt that pairs with a black and white jacquard sweater.

The shop also offers tweed capes in warm shades reminiscent of the famous tapestries that line the walls of the castle. The floral designs on the knitted sweaters and dresses and the floral embroidery on the lapels of the jackets are inspired by the famous castle gardens. To complete the offer, textured and luxurious accessories, such as a mini black velvet handbag 2.55, embroidered with pearls and rhinestones; a checkerboard in black and white lambskin 11.12, and a large shopping bag in velvet and lambskin.
