New watches to watch in August 2022:
Hublot Big Bang Unico Essential Gray
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Essential Gray magnifies the inimitable design of the original model with its contemporary monochrome and satin look. Its distinctive case, whose satin finish extends to the bezel, hands and dial, is made of titanium which ensures a particularly comfortable fit on the wrist. At the heart of this striking piece is the in-house caliber HUB1280, a column-wheel chronograph movement with a 72-hour power reserve. The versatility of the 42mm unisex model is further enhanced by two straps that come with it. Easily interchangeable, thanks to Hublot’s patented One Click system, they include a version in sporty gray with black lined rubber, as well as a version in robust gray fabric with Velcro closure. Only 200 pieces of this limited edition reference are available exclusively online at hublot.com, making it a future collector’s item.
Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Diver
Rado’s Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Diver brings together the latest high-tech ceramic production techniques and the brand’s most innovative watchmaking. Housed in a 43mm monobloc ceramic case, the latest generation Rado caliber R763 automatic movement with 80 hours of power reserve and Nivachron antimagnetic hairspring.
Fans will notice notable Captain Cook features such as the date window at 3 o’clock with red numerals – a nod to previous editions – and the box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The circular-brushed titanium screw-down caseback bears the engraving “Diver’s watch 300m” and two stamped seahorses found on models from the early 1960s. This iteration with a water resistance of 300m also benefits from the ISO 6425 certification – a first for Rado. Offered in six models, four variants in black or olive green come with either a rubber strap or a high-tech ceramic strap. The other two matte plasma bracelet versions have a sunburst gray or blue dial.
The six letters that spell Chanel are at the heart of the house’s latest watch capsule collection, Chanel Wanted. They leave their unique mark on six limited edition iterations: the J12 Highly Wanted by Chanel Box of six J12 watches in tone-on-tone black ceramic; Chanel’s J12 Wanted references 33 mm and 38 mm in white and black ceramic respectively; Code Coco Wanted by Chanel featuring the six letters on its leather strap; Boyfriend Wanted by Chanel with six riveted steel letters on the leather strap; and here, Chanel’s Première Wanted whose steel chain bracelet is adorned with six dangling letters that playfully dance with the movements of the wrist.
Bulgari Aluminum GMT
The Bulgari Aluminum GMT sets a new course with the special edition Amerigo Vespucci, which pays homage to the legendary homonymous tall ship of the Italian Navy and the spirit of exploration of the famous 15th century Florentine adventurer, Amerigo Vespucci. Presenting black, white and yellow hues on the dial that recall the impressive palette of the training ship, the model allows the time of the second time zone to be read via a luminescent arrow-shaped hand. Two contrasting 12 o’clock zones in black and yellow help distinguish day from night, while echoing the Vespucci’s deep gold and black railings.
Water-resistant to 100m, the titanium back of the 40mm timepiece bears the inscription of the ship’s name, Nave Scuola Amerigo Vespucci, and its motto. Powered by the self-winding Caliber BVL 192, the 1,000-piece special edition is presented in a mahogany box also engraved with the ship’s motto: Non chi cominicia ma quel che persevere (Not the one who begins, but who perseveres).
Hermes H08 watch
First launched with three iterations with a graphene, titanium and two-tone DLC treated titanium case, the Hermès H08 watch is now available in a beautiful deep blue titanium case. Maintaining the model’s previous design codes, the sporty yet elegant 39mm by 39mm men’s model is topped with a black ceramic bezel and screw-down crown.
A play of textures and finishes highlights the blue PVD-treated dial punctuated with white Arabic numerals and contrasting orange accents. Powered by the in-house Hermès H1837 self-winding mechanical movement, a blue rubber strap with a black DLC titanium buckle highlights an urban look that echoes the world of Hermès men’s ready-to-wear.
